Hi everyone!

Today I will represent the extension of the book "The Giver". Well, back to the book. Father is allowed to let the new child live in their home for a year before it assigned to a family. The child is called Gabriel and he's a lot of fun. Jonas plays with Gabriel and he plays catch with an apple. He is startled when it changes in midair. No one else seems to notice. Jonas has a dream about his friend Fiona. His parents recognize it as the start of puberty. Although, they call it the stirring. They are required to take pills each day to suppress those feelings. Then finally the ceremony comes. The chief elder gives out job assignments along with a speech for each person. Asher is assigned to recreation, Fiona is caretaker of the old. Chief elder skips over Jonas and comes back to him at the end because he has been assigned the most important job of the community. He will be a receiver of memory because he has admirable qualities and the ability to see beyond. After school each day Jonas goes for job training at the givers quarters. The Giver is an older man who has a personal secretary and a private wing all to himself. It's the only place in town which is locked by a door. The Giver explains that Jonases job is to receive the memories of the past in the whole world. He starts with the memory of snow. The Giver puts his hands on Jona's back. Jonas suddenly sees himself using a sled during a light snowfall. He was amazed by how beautiful that was. The Giver explained that they got rid of snow a long time ago when they implemented climate control.

I was so excited to continue reading this book because of the explanation and information about the giver. If I read a book I'm trying to find the information or interesting stories which are related to book's title. This book is called "The Giver", therefore when I started to read about the giver I fell in love with this book. For sure, there is a moment related with parents that they should take pills to suppress feelings because of Jona's maturation. I think they should always be ready to accept that by not using the pills because as I saw my classmate's parents who took pills because of his maturation, they became aggressive and they had really strange and not logical behaviour. I will continue reading this book no matter that this is my last blog post. I'm really interested in how it will end.

  1. Hi Ernest - This society controls everything! They even control the climate? Do you know why your classmate was given pills that changed his behavior? Were they trying to treat some kind of problem, such as attention deficit disorder?
